ITALFERR, the engineering consultancy subsidiary of Italian State Railways (FS), has rebranded as FS Engineering.
The announcement was made at an event on February 5 attended by the company's CEO, Dario Lo Bosco, Italy’s minister of infrastructure and transport and deputy prime minister, Matteo Salvini, FS Group CEO, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, FS Group president, Tommaso Tanzilli, and FS Engineering president, Laura Martiniello.
FS Engineering says that its new name is intended “to promote integrated, high-tech, and digital engineering worldwide,” after Italferr has establish itself over a period of 40 years “as a global leader in high-tech engineering.”
The company says it is present in 15 countries on five continents and is is now seeking to steadily expand its scope well beyond the Italian rail and public transport sectors. FS Engineering also confirmed its intention to assume the role of a transversal technical hub within the FS Group and, internationally, as a designer of large-scale civil engineering projects.
As well as being well-established in the transport sector, Italferr has also worked on energy, water, construction and urban planning projects. FS Engineering says it will integrate traditional engineering consultancy with Big Data, the Iinternet of Things (IoT) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, placing sustainability, safety and scheduled maintenance at the core of project life cycles.
”The name change isn't a simple rebranding, but rather the strengthening of an already established strategy,” Lo Bosco says.
