HITACHI Rail is investing $C 30m ($US 22m) in a new Canadian headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. The 11,613m² building in Consilium Place in the Scarborough district will accommodate 1100 employees and 100 paid interns.
The new Leed Silver and Boma-certified headquarters, which is due to open this summer, will host Hitachi Rail’s global CBTC competence centre, which will provide engineering and technical expertise around the world.
Hitachi had previously announced that it will invest $C 100m developing its SelTrac G9 CBTC platform, acquired with the signalling business of Thales, at the new site in Toronto.
“Our new state-of-the-art office will attract the next generation of new tech talent and will also be the hub for the next-generation signalling technology that will increase capacity, improve reliability and reduce costs for transit systems around the world,” says Arnaud Besse, COO, Hitachi Rail Canada.
