PORAMET Ngampichet, mayor of Pattaya, southeast of the Thai capital Bangkok, says the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed Green Line monorail should be completed by the end of October.
Once the assessment has been approved, it will be submitted to Thailand’s National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) for an economic feasibility assessment. The final step will be to obtain approval from the Thai Cabinet.
The 9km Green Line monorail will run from Pattaya’s planned high-speed station via the city centre to Bali Hai Pier. It is planned to implement the project as a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
The Green Line could form part of a four-line network serving Pattaya. The city council approved the construction of the 11km Purple Line last year with a view to starting construction in 2027.
The 17.37km Red Line would run from the Eastern National Sports Training Centre on Chaiyaphruek 2 Road to the Dolphin Roundabout, with 10 stations, while the Yellow Line would connect Chon Buri and Sattahip.
