OVER 217km of new metro lines have opened in China since June, including many extensions to existing lines. Key openings of 11 lines in eight cities include Line 1 in Changsha, which was was extended by 9.9km from Kaifu District Government to Jinpenqiu on June 28.
In Chengdu, new Line S3 opened connecting Futian with Ziyang Bei station on September 29 (38.7 km). Two extensions of Line 3 opened in Foshan from Zhen’an to Zhongshan Park and from Lianhe to Foshan University on August 2, totalling 22.2 km.
In Ningbo, Line 5 was extended from Xingzhuang Road to Luotuo Bridge on June 28 (8.6km). New Line 6 opened on June 29 in Suzhou, connecting Suzhou Xinqu railway station with Sangtiandao (35km). This was followed by another new line opening on September 10, when the 35.5km Line 8 entered service between Xijinqiao and Chefang.
Two lines have been extended in Tianjin, starting with Line 1 from Donggulu to Shuangqiaohe on July 1. This was followed on September 28 with the extension of Line 5 and the Jinjing Line between Liqizhuangnan, Jinghuadongdao and Tuanboyixueyuan (13.4 km)
In Wuhan, Line 7 was extended by 15.1km from Hengdian to Huangpi Square on October 1. The new 34.4km Line 10 opened in Xi’an opened on September 26, connecting Jingshangcun with Zhaohuiguangchang. On the same day, Line 5 was extended from Matengkong to Yanminghu (3.4 km) and Line 6 was extended from Xi’an International Medical Centre to Xi’an South railway station (4.5 km)
