COLAS Rail and partners have won three contracts worth a combined €430m from Moroccan National Railways (ONCF) for the 375km Kénitra - Marrakech high-speed line project.
Colas Rail’s Moroccan subsidiary GTR has been awarded the lot 3 civil engineering contract for a 40km section of the high-speed line. The work, which is worth nearly €180m, will include earthworks, standard engineering, and the construction of five bridges. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
In addition, a consortium of Colas Rail and Setec will be responsible for design and construction of track, catenary systems, and substations on a 346km single-track section of the high-speed line, and a 112km single-track section of the regional network. This work is scheduled for completion in 2028. The consortium has also won a €50m contract to carry out the lot 1 superstructure and civil engineering works on the project.
ONCF is aiming to open the 320km/h high-speed line between Casablanca and Marrakech in time for Morocco to co-host the 2030 Fifa football World Cup with Spain and Portugal. It has already awarded the vast majority of the construction contracts for the project, which will extend the existing Tangiers - Kénitra high-speed line.
