FIVE consortia and one company have been selected by Central Communication Port (CPK), which is responsible for Poland’s Port Polska airport and high-speed rail projects, to take part in the competitive dialogue process for the construction of the 12.9km Kotowice - Airport Junction section of the Warsaw - Łódź high-speed line.
The bidders comprise Budimex and the following consortia:
- Zue, Duna Polska and Polaqua
- Torpol, Mirbud and Kobylarnia
- Trakcja and Porr
- Mostostal Warszawa, NDI, NDI Sopot and Intercor, and
- Gülermak, Track Tec Construction, Unibep and Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe
CPK expects to award the contract in the fourth quarter of 2027. The selected contractor will prepare the detailed design for the project and will be responsible for constructing the 350km/h section together with grade-separated connections to two existing lines.
CPK is already evaluating eight requests to participate in a tender for the 14.3km Airport Junction - Bolimów Junction section.
“The first two competitive dialogue procedures already underway for the Warsaw - Łódź section have enabled us to broaden our knowledge through close cooperation with the market and prepare four further procurements which we intend to launch in the near future,” says Piotr Rachwalski, rail board member of CPK.
Freight input
Port Polska and PKP Cargo signed a rail freight cooperation letter of intent on July 10. Port Polska says it wants to take the needs of freight operators into account from the outset to ensure the optimum design for freight of the new lines, terminals and logistics facilities.
The cooperation will include analysis of intermodal freight trends, freight traffic management, the location of freight terminals and sidings, as well as infrastructure requirements related to the operation of Port Polska.
“Modern infrastructure is designed in partnership with those who will use it,” says Filip Czernicki, CEO of CPK. “That is why we want to benefit from the experience of freight operators from the earliest planning stage.”
