CENTRAL Communication Port (CPK), which is responsible for Poland’s Port Polska hub airport and high-speed rail projects, has received eight requests to participate in a tender for the construction of the 14.3km Airport Junction - Bolimów Junction section of the Warsaw - Łódź high-speed line. CPK will invite up to five potential contractors to take part in the competitive dialogue process.
The consortia and companies comprise:
- Strabag and Tym-Bud
- Torpol, Mirbud, and Kobylarnia
- Zue, Duna Polska and Polaqua
- Budimex
- Porr and Trakcja
- Gülermak, Track Tec Construction, Unibep, and Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe
- Mostostal Warsaw, and
- Ntercor, NDI, and NDI Sopot.
The selected contractor will prepare the detailed design documentation, including construction, technical and workshop designs, and will be responsible for delivering the new 350km/h line. The contract includes the construction of 55 road and railway bridges and viaducts, drainage culverts and wildlife crossings.
"We currently have two of the six construction procurement procedures for the Warsaw - Łódź high-speed rail line underway,” says Piotr Rachwalski, board member for rail at CPK. “The competitive dialogue process has provided us with valuable market feedback that will enable us to launch the remaining procurements as open tenders."
The procurement procedure launched in December 2025 for the 12.9km Kotowice - Airport Junction section is currently in the final stage of assessment for participation in the competitive dialogue. CPK says it will shortly announce the list of contractors selected to take part in the procedure.
Preparations are also underway for procurement of the remaining four sections of the Warsaw - Łódź high-speed line comprising:
- Warsaw West - Kotowice (tunnel - 18km)
- Bolimów Junction area (12km);
- Bolimów Junction - Brzeziny (37km), and
- Brzeziny - Łódź (11km).
CPK has also launched two competitive dialogue procedures for the signalling and train control systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and overhead electrification and power supply for the Warsaw - Łódź - Sieradz and Sieradz - Kępno - Bierutów sections.
The Warsaw - Łódź section, which will also provide access to the new airport, is due to open in 2032, followed by extensions to Poznań and Wrocław three years later.
