CENTRAL Communication Port (CPK), the company delivering Poland’s new Port Poland hub airport west of Warsaw and associated rail projects, has launched the second tender for construction of the high-speed line between Warsaw and Łódź.
The deadline for submitting bids to build a 14.3km section of new Line 85 between the Airport Junction and Bolimowski Junction, excluding the junctions themselves, is June 12. This section forms part of the Y-shaped high-speed line that will connect Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław.
The contract will be delivered under an “optimise and build” model. The preferred bidder will be responsible for preparing detailed design documentation and subsequently constructing the section designed for operation at up to 350km/h. The project includes the construction of 55 structures, including bridges and viaducts, drainage culverts and wildlife crossings.
As with previous contracts, bidding will be a two-stage process, with CPK initially inviting bids from interested parties. These will be assessed in the second stage, when up to five contractors will be selected to enter into a competitive dialogue.
Earlier this month, CPK announced that six bids from 17 contractors had been received to build the first 12.9km section of Line 85 from Kotowice to the airport following the launch of a tender at the start of this year. A construction contract for tunnelling in the Łódź area was awarded last year to Austrian contractor Porr.
