Line 20/Pink will be about 31km long with 24 stations running from Santa Marina in the north through the western side of the city to Santo André in the southeast.
The line will connect with the new Line 6/Orange at Santa Marina, CPTM commuter rail lines 7 and 8 at Lapa, Line 4/Yellow at Faria Lima, Line 5/Lilac at Moema, Line 1/Blue at São Judas, and CPTM Line 10/ Turquoise at Santo André.
The new line is expected to carry around 1 million passengers per day, and a maximum of 32,000 passengers per hour.
The deadline for bids is July 21 with a view to awarding the contract during the last quarter of this year. The winner will have up to 32 months to complete the studies. São Paulo hopes to open Line 20/Pink in 2030.
