HITACHI Rail has won a contract to provide CBTC and a supervisory control and data acquisition (Scada) system for the under-construction 5.6km Xizhi - Donghu (Xidong) and 15.6km Nangang - Badu (Keelung) light rail projects in Taipei, Taiwan.
The new lines will connect New Taipei City and Keelung City and will be built by prime contractor and Malaysian construction firm Gamuda Berhad, working on behalf of New Taipei city government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems (Dorts). The value of the contract between Hitachi and Gamuda and the delivery schedule has not been disclosed.
Hitachi Rail has previously worked with Dorts on Taipei’s Circular and Sanying metro lines. The new light rail lines will be operated with a fleet of up to 23 LRVs. A framework contract for the new fleet was signed with CAF last month in a deal worth around €200m.
