AUSTRIAN measurement technology specialist PJM has carried out brakes and acoustics tests on a Schmidt Beilhack HB 1100S snowblower in Norway.
Track tests for the brakes took place between autumn 2024 and April 2025 in a wide variety of weather scenarios and included wheel slide protection tests to determine braking distance and braking performance in Holmenstrand. Steep gradient track tests on the Flam Railway and further test runs between Finse and Voss.
PJM will also carry out acoustic measurements to ensure that noise levels comply with health and safety requirements. These will be carried out in the autumn, before the snowblower is handed over for use by Norwegian infrastructure Bane Nor.
“The Beilhack HB 1100S is a high-performance snowblower that we develop and manufacture on a project basis,” says Thomas Kaiser, project manager at Aebi Schmidt. “The tests carried out by PJM provide us with the data required for approval and we gain valuable insights for the further development of these highly complex machines.”
