AUSTRIAN rail vehicle testing laboratory PJM has joined forces with German electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) specialist Rörden to launch a new joint subsidiary, EMC Rail Services.
The new company will focus on providing EMC testing and assessment services, evaluating how lineside electrical and electronic systems interact with rolling stock to ensure that no electromagnetic interference occurs that could affect signalling and other systems.
EMC Rail Services believes that the growing complexity of modern rail systems will increase demand for EMC testing, including dedicated tests for radiated electromagnetic disturbance, radio protection, human exposure, and compatibility with track circuits, axle-counters and sensors.
“The launch of EMC Rail Services expands our range of services and includes a discipline that is becoming increasingly important for the rail transport of tomorrow,” says Martin Joch, CEO of PJM and joint managing director of EMC Rail Services.
