MOROCCAN National Railways (ONCF) has awarded a Won 748.2bn ($US 484.6) 20-year contract to Hyundai Rotem, Korea, to maintain the fleet of 110 four-car double-deck EMUs which Hyundai is supplying to ONCF under a Won 2.2 trillion contract awarded in February 2025.
The contract covers train maintenance to be carried out through a joint venture of Hyundai Rotem and ONCF, materials management and technical support for heavy maintenance.
The new trains will operate commuter services in the Casablanca area and will be supplied in time for the 2030 Fifa World Cup, which Morocco is staging together with Spain and Portugal.
