PKP InterCity could receive 10-year direct award contract under government plans
THE Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has released a draft amendment to the National Transport Plan which includes awarding PKP InterCity a 10-year direct-award operating contract from 2019 worth up to €4.6bn, a major increase compared with the existing €1.1bn 2011-2021 contract PKP InterCity is currently operating under.

Brightline receives approval for Port Miami station
THE Miami-Dade County Commission has approved plans for Brightline, soon to be Virgin Trains USA, to build a station at PortMiami by the end of 2020. The station will eventually provide a direct connection between the port’s cruise terminals and Brightline’s services to Orlando International Airport.

Flood-damaged Hokuriku Shinkansen trains to be scrapped
THE 10 Hokuriku Shinkansen trains which were damaged by flooding at Nagano depot following Typhoon Hagibis on October 12 are to be scrapped as the damage to electrical and electronic equipment is deemed too great to repair to ensure the safe running of the trains.
