British government prepares contingency plans for South Western Railway
BRITAIN’s secretary of state for transport, Mr Grant Shapps, told parliament on January 22 that while South Western Railway (SWR) is still meeting its financial commitments under its franchise agreement, contingency plans are being drawn up in case it fails.

India launches Ahmedabad - Mumbai Tejas Express
INDIAN Railways public sector undertaking Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) launched a Tejas Express service between Ahmedabad and Mumbai on January 17, the country’s second premium Tejas service, with commercial operation beginning on January 19.
