DB presents refurbished former Westbahn EMU
GERMAN Rail (DB) presented the first of 17 refurbished former Westbahn Stadler Kiss double-deck EMUs at Berlin Main Station on February 6 ahead of the introduction of nine trains on the Rostock - Berlin - Dresden inter-city route on March 8.

Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link rail consultancy contract awarded
DANISH planning company Femern has appointed SNC Lavalin subsidiary Atkins to provide consultancy services for the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link railway that will run through the 18km Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The contract will run for eight years, and includes an option for an extension.

CAF awarded €100m Nordic fleet and maintenance contracts
NORWEGIAN operator VY has awarded CAF subsidiary Euromaint a contract to maintain the Bergen Railway fleet over nine years, one of two contracts worth a total of €100m awarded to the manufacturer in the Nordic region.

MID Saxony Transport Authority (VMS), with the support of Greater Leipzig Transport Authority (ZVNL), has awarded Alstom a €100m contract for 11 three-car Coradia Continental battery-EMUs (BEMU), which are scheduled to enter service in 2023.
