ZSSK returns to profit after eight years in the red
SLOVAKIA national passenger operator ZSSK has posted a slim profit of €6000 for 2018, its first positive result in eight years, reversing a budgeted loss of €2m, after Ebidta increased from a budgeted €84.2m to €91.3m.

Turkish president opens full Istanbul Marmaray rail link
THE president of Turkey Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially opened the 63km Halkali - Istanbul - Gebze railway on March 12 marking the completion of phase two of the Marmaray project to connect Turkey’s European and Asian rail networks.

VR orders 60 diesel locomotives from Stadler
FINLAND’s VR Group has awarded Stadler a €200m contract to supply 60 new diesel locomotives primarily for freight operations, which the company says will improve operational efficiency in freight yards and on non-electrified lines which make up 45% of the Finnish network.
