TRENSURB, the metro operator in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, issued tender documents on October 8 for a contract to supply 15 four-car emus which will supplement its existing train fleet.
TRENSURB, the metro operator in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, issued tender documents on October 8 for a contract to supply 15 four-car emus which will supplement its existing train fleet.
The contract will be worth around Reais 220m ($US 108m) and the order is being financed through Brazil's federal Growth Acceleration Programme (PAC), which means priority will be given to bidders offering a high degree of local content. The closing date for bids is October 31.
The first trains will be delivered within 18 months of contract signing, and the final trains within 26 months.
