IRJ at InnoTrans 2024: The European Train to InnoTrans, organised by Europe's Rail joint research undertaking (ERJU), arrived in Berlin on September 23, bringing visitors and exhibitors to the InnoTrans trade fair. A series of workshops took place during the six hour direct journey from Brussels.
Delays outside Berlin main station meant the special train was slightly late arriving at platform 1, where the German Rail (DB) specially-liveried ICE3 neo was welcomed by DB CEO Dr Richard Lutz. "Travelling by train is usable time," he said. "The core to delivering modal shift, growth and capacity is infrastructure. I'm looking forward to a sustainable and competitive future."
Belgian deputy prime minister Mr Georges Gilkinet, who was on the train throughout, said: "The journey from Brussels was comfortable and made it possible to talk to a lot of people, which you certainly can't do on a plane."
