KOREAN national operator Korail has appointed Kim Taeseung as its 12th president and CEO following a ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Daejeon on March 3.
A transport and logistics specialist with more than 30 years of experience, Kim has served as a professor at the Asia-Pacific School of Logistics at Inha University since 2007.
Kim has set three key priorities for his stewardship of Korail: strengthening railway safety, building a sustainable transport system, and completing the integration of high-speed services.
He adds that Korail will prioritise establishing a strong safety culture throughout the organisation. Measures include increased investment in advanced safety technologies, the introduction of AI and robotics-based safety management systems, and redesigned working environments aimed at preventing workplace accidents.
“We will improve services to make rail a more accessible low-carbon option in everyday life, while supporting the government's energy policy,” Kim says.
