A new non-stop high-speed freight service linking Wuhan with Guangzhou in southeastern China started pilot operation on November 17. Using existing passenger EMUs, the service takes about 4h 30min to cover the 984km between Hankou station in Wuhan and Baiyun station in Guangzhou.
The trains are operated by China Railway Express Company (CREC) and carry fresh food, business parcels, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other high-value goods for rapid delivery.
The service adds to the growing portfolio of high-speed freight routes, which includes Kunming - Chengdu, Zhengzhou - Chongqing and Nanchang - Shenzhen.
