FULL operation of Phase 2 of Bangalore’s metro network, involving over 70km of new lines, has been delayed until 2027. The 21.4km Pink Line from with 18 stations from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara is now expected to open in late 2026 at the earliest, with the first rolling stock expected to arrive this summer.
Construction of the 58.2km Blue Line with 29 stations has been split into two sections. The first, from Central Silk Board to KR Pura, is expected to open in the third quarter of this year, while the second, from KR Pura to Kempegowda International Airport, is not expected to enter service until early 2027.
The 19.1km Yellow Line with 16 stations from southern Bengaluru to Electronics City is physically complete. However, the delayed delivery of 15 trains ordered from CRRC in 2019 means that only two trains have so far arrived, with a third expected later this month. The line, originally due to enter service last year and then in January, is now expected to open in July, with services making limited stops until more trains are delivered.
