RENFE International Projects, the international arm of Spanish national operator Renfe, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Central Japan Railway (JR Central). The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between the two parties in technical, operational, and strategic areas while reinforcing both companies’ presence in international rail markets.
Under the memorandum, Renfe and JR Central will establish a framework for regular exchanges of knowledge, personnel, and best practices. Key areas of focus include research and development, as well as the operation and maintenance of high-speed and conventional railway systems. The agreement also includes joint exploration of international project opportunities.
The partnership seeks to create synergies that leverage the strengths and expertise of both organisations and foster a long-term relationship focused on sustainable and efficient transport solutions. With extensive experience in operating high-speed rail services, the two companies aim to deepen their global impact by aligning on future initiatives.
Renfe says the move is in line with its broader strategy of forming strategic alliances with major international operators.
