CHINA’s National Development and Reform Commission has approved a 302.2 km, 350km/h high speed line between Wenzhou and Fuzhou.
The new line, linking Zheijiang and Fujian provinces in the southeast of the country, is to be built at a cost of Yuan 89.7bn ($US 12.4).
In Fujian province the line will extend for 203.8km with stations at Fuzhounan (terminal station), Lianjiang, Louyuan, Ningde, Fuan, Zherong and Fudingxi. In Zhejiang province, it will extend for 98.4km with stations at Cangnanbing, Pingyang Qikua, Rui’andong and Wenzhoudong (terminal station).
The line was first included in Fujian province’s mid-term railway network development plan which was issued in 2017. It will add capacity to the existing high-speed infrastructure on the coastal route from Shenzhen to Hangzhou and Shanghai, and double fast-rail route options between its termini cities. Construction is expected to commence next month and last for five years.
