Pacific National opens inland hub at Parkes
AUSTRALIAN freight operator Pacific National (PN) has opened the $A 35m ($US 24.1m) first stage of its intermodal hub at Parkes in New South Wales (NSW), strategically located where the main east west transcontinental rail corridor will eventually intersect with the under-construction north-south Inland Rail project.

Brightline receives approval for Port Miami station
THE Miami-Dade County Commission has approved plans for Brightline, soon to be Virgin Trains USA, to build a station at PortMiami by the end of 2020. The station will eventually provide a direct connection between the port’s cruise terminals and Brightline’s services to Orlando International Airport.

Flood-damaged Hokuriku Shinkansen trains to be scrapped
THE 10 Hokuriku Shinkansen trains which were damaged by flooding at Nagano depot following Typhoon Hagibis on October 12 are to be scrapped as the damage to electrical and electronic equipment is deemed too great to repair to ensure the safe running of the trains.
