THE Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has created the CILT International Global Rail Group. The new international professional network aims to bring together rail professionals from across the world to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on the major challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
CILT describes the group as a “truly international community that supports professional growth while strengthening the role of rail to deliver economic, social and environmental benefits.”
Among the challenges the group seeks to address are capacity, connectivity, costs and benefits, sustainability and innovation.
The launch was announced during the 2025 CILT International Convention held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, last month. The group is founded and led by Andrew Young, international vice-president for the CILT Americas Region, and an IRJ contributor, who will chair the group, along with Darren King, a member of CILT UK and strategic rail advisor at WSP, who will serve as vice-chair.
