SPITZKE, Germany, has awarded a contract to Plasser & Theurer for the supply of eight track maintenance machines of four different types, plus two MTW 100.216 overhead catenary installation and maintenance machines. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
The track maintenance machines comprise:
- one RM 900 high-capacity ballast cleaning machine
- five MFS 120 SC material conveyor and hopper units
- one Unimat 09-4x4/4S Dynamic universal tamping machine, and
- one USP 2010 SWS universal ballast profiling machine.
The RM 900 ballast cleaner has an integrated tamping unit, sweeping unit, and new ballast supply system. Two eccentric screening units ensure a high work output and separate high-quality ballast from contaminants. A ballast reconditioning system resharpens rounded grains and restores the contact surfaces of the ballast needed to keep the track stable.
The MFS 120 SC conveyor and hopper units work in a formation with the ballast cleaning machine to supply ballast and remove excavated material. A slewing transfer conveyor allows bulk material to be unloaded from the side.
The Unimat 09-4x4/4S Dynamic universal tamping machine can work on plain line track and turnouts. Measuring and stabilisation systems ensure good track geometry and reduce operational restrictions after maintenance.
The USP 2010 SWS ballast profiling machine distributes and profiles the ballast on plain line and turnouts. The integrated hopper allows existing ballast to be reused.
The self-propelled MTW 100.216 catenary installation, inspection, and maintenance machine incorporates an elevating work platform and crane.
