The first container was shipped on June 25 from Busan in South Korea to the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port in the far east of Russia, before being carried along the Trans-Siberian Railway to Brest, Belarus, where it was transferred onto the European Standard gauge network before being delivered to the freight terminal in Brzeg Dolny, Poland. Final deliver to the customer’s warehouse in Wroclaw was undertaken by road.
RZD says the total transit time was 21 days, twice as fast as shipping by sea via the Suez Canal.
Fesco provided shipping, port handling and the container fleet, while RZD was responsible for organising rail transport.
The new service follows the launch of a service from Yokohama, Japan, to Wroclaw, Poland, which takes 11 days.
