SWEDEN’s ProTrain Trafik has signed a long-term lease agreement with Hamburg-based Northrail for eight diesel locomotives.
ProTrain will initially lease four Gravita 10 mid-cab locomotives originally built by Voith and four new DE18 diesel locomotives built by Vossloh Rolling Stock. All of the locomotives will be equipped with ETCS Level 2. The first of the Gravita locomotives was delivered on December 30 and the remaining three will follow on March 1.
The 1.8MW four-axle DE18 locomotives will be equipped with a European Union (EU) Stage V emissions-compliant diesel engine and were built under an agreement signed by Vossloh and Northrail’s parent company Rive Private Investment for the supply of 10 DE18s in October 2024.
ProTrain holds operating licences for Sweden and Norway and acts as a subcontractor for freight and shunting operations. It also provides driver training and staffing services.
