FRENCH National Railways’ (SNCF) subsidiary SNCF Passenger has awarded CAF an €80m contract to supply 10 bi-mode trains to operate in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France.
The four-car trains will each seat 208 passengers. They will join the fleet of 54 Régiolis trains currently operated by SNCF Passenger on TER regional services in Nouvelle-Acquitaine.
Design and assembly will be undertaken at the CAF plant at Reichshoffen in eastern France, with some onboard systems and equipment supplied by Alstom. The latter manufacturer originally developed the Régiolis as the Coradia Polyvalent before selling the platform and Reichshoffen to CAF in 2022, in order to meet a condition set by the European Commission when it approved the acquisition of Bombardier by Alstom.
CAF says that it has almost 50 Régiolis trains on order for SNCF.
