ITALIAN State Railways (FS) has concluded a 20-year finance deal with Eurofima worth €500m for new rolling stock.

The trains covered by the deal include 31 Alstom four-car single-deck Pop EMUs and 31 Hitachi Rail double-deck Rock EMUs, in four, five and six-car configurations.

Eurofima says that the trains support FS’s latest investment programme aimed at modernising its regional fleet and increasing rail utilisation in support of Italy’s decarbonisation objectives.

The latest deal with FS is in addition to a 15-year €400m finance facility agreed in May 2025.
