New York MTA publishes $US 51.5bn investment plan
NEW York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) published its proposed $US 51.5bn 2020-2024 capital investment plan on September 16, which it describes “by far the highest in the MTA’s history, increasing spending on infrastructure by 70% over current levels.”

Agreement reached to fund Los Angeles Union rail link
AN agreement was reached on September 13 by California State Transportation Agency (CalSta), Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and California High-Speed Rail Authority to release $US 423m Proposition 1A funds for a project to convert Los Angeles Union into a through station.

Ottawa opens light rail Line 1
THE Canadian capital of Ottawa opened its second light rail line on September 14. Formerly known as the Confederation Line, the 12.5km Line 1 runs from Tunney’s Pasture east to Blair with an end-to-end journey time of around 24 minutes.

CN to acquire Quebec - New York line from CSX
CANADIAN National Railway (CN) announced on August 29 that it has reached an agreement with CSX to acquire more than 350km of track between Valleyfield in Quebec and Woodard in the US state of New York.
