RegioJet begins operation of first contract services in Czech Republic
CZECH passenger operator RegioJet began operation of its first contracted regional services on December 15. While RegioJet has operated tendered services in Slovakia between Bratislava and Kormoran for several years, it has not previously won contracts in the Czech Republic.

Alpha Trains orders Desiro fleet for Baltic services
ROLLING stock leasing company Alpha Trains will take delivery of seven four-car Desiro Mainline (ML) regional EMUs from Siemens this month, which East German Railway Company (ODEG) will lease to operate services around the Baltic coast.

Bombardier to refurbish and maintain Regina EMU fleet
SWEDISH rail vehicle leasing company AB Transitio has signed a five-year, SKr 280m ($US 29.8m) contract with Bombardier to refurbish and perform heavy maintenance on 59 Regina EMUs.

CRRC beats Skoda and Siemens for Porto LRV order
PORTO Metro’s board of directors has approved a €49.6m contract with CRRC Tangshan for the supply of 18 LRVs. The four-section vehicles will have capacity for 252 passengers, including 64 seated, with a maximum speed of 80km/h.
