Bane Nor awards contract for new Eidsvoll North - Langset line
NORWEGIAN infrastructure manager Bane Nor has awarded a consortium of Hæhre and PNC ANS a contract worth NKr 2.2bn ($US 259m) to construct a double-track line from Eidsvoll North to Langset, which is due to open in autumn 2023.

Open-access London - Cardiff service proposed
GRAND Union Trains, which was set up in 2018 by Mr Ian Yeowart, has applied to Britain’s Office of Road and Rail (ORR) to operate an open-access passenger service between London Paddington and Cardiff in competition with franchisee Great Western Railway (GWR).

Helsinki - Kouvola direct link “not economically viable”
A new direct rail link between Helsinki and Kouvola would reduce journey times between the capital, southeast Finland and St Petersburg but is not economically viable, according to a report published by the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications on April 5.
