First electric test run between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem

ISRAEL Railways (IR) operated an electric locomotive in Tel Aviv for the first time on September 6, when a Bombardier Traxx unit completed a test run between Tel Aviv Hahagana and Jerusalem Navon stations on the A1 link, the country’s first electrified line.

German states to study Aar Valley Railway reopening

THE German states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate are set to commence a feasibility study for a project to reinstate the 53.7km Aar Valley Railway from Wiesbaden to Diez and Limburg, which closed in 1986.

Mixed first half for SBB as Meyer announces plan to step down

SWISS Federal Railways (SBB) returned a group result of SFr 279m ($US 279m) for the first half of this year, a 4.5% decrease from SFr 292m a year ago. Similarly, Ebit was down by 4% from SFr 302m to SFr 290m. Group revenues remained about the same at SFr 4.79bn (-0.6%), while group expenditure was up by 1.5% from SFr 4.45bn to SFr 4.52bn.

RegioJet orders more Bombardier locomotives

CZECH open-access operator RegioJet has selected Bombardier to supply 15 Traxx MS3 multi-system locomotives, which will support the company’s expansion in the Czech regional market, including the Brno - Ostrava - Bohumín line, and extensions of international services to Hungary in June 2020.
