DB to order 30 high-speed trains as Germany slashes VAT on long-distance rail fares
GERMAN Rail (DB) announced on September 20 that it will place an order for 30 high-speed trains and cut the price of inter-city tickets by 10% after the federal government cut VAT on long-distance rail fares from 19% to 7% as part of a broader package of measures to combat climate change.

Ghana to restore Kojokrom - Tarkwa passenger services
GHANA Railway Company (GRCL) completed a successful test run on the Kojokrom - Tarkwa line on September 17, just over 12 years to the day after passenger operations the line were suspended. Full operations are expected to resume in October.
