JR East to increase Tohoku Shinkansen line speeds

EAST Japan Railway (JR East) has announced plans to increase the speed of its high-speed Tohoku Shinkansen service in north eastern Japan by March 2021.

Laos: The Laos-China Railway Company (LCRC) has finished the last of 75 tunnels for its 414km rail project. Around 148km of track has been laid and 120km of tunnel has been bored since construction began in December 2016, and expected to begin operation in December 2021.

Amtrak requests extra funding to avoid further service cutbacks and job losses

AMTRAK says it requires up to an additional $US 4.857bn from the United States government to support the company and employees for the remainder of the current fiscal year due to the impact of Covid-19. The railway has also identified $US 5.193bn in additional need as part of an economic recovery proposal intended to support the US’ recovery from the pandemic.
