Hitachi awarded £350m Avanti West Coast fleet contract
FIRST Trenitalia, which will launch its Avanti West Coast franchise in Britain on December 8, has awarded Hitachi Rail a contract worth more than £350m to provide and maintain 23 200km/h inter-city trains, which will enter service from 2022.

Ferrovienord orders 31 Alstom trains for Lombardy regional services
ITALIAN operator Ferrovienord has signed a €194m contract with Alstom for 31 regional trains for operation in the Lombardy Region of Italy. The contract is the first within a framework agreement signed with Ferrovienord’s parent company North Milan Railway (FNM). The trains will be delivered from 2022 onwards.

TRANSMASHHOLDING subsidiary Demikhovsky Machine Building Plant (DMZ) has signed a contract with Russia’s Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPK) for the supply of six 11-car 3kV dc EP2D EMUs, which will be delivered by the end of the year.
