A GROUNDBREAKING ceremony was held in Sofia on November 21 to mark the start of construction on the eastern extension of metro Line 1 from Tsarigradsko Shose to Sofia Airport Terminal 2.

THE Bulgarian capital Sofia celebrated the opening of its second metro line on August 31 with a day of free rides, a music festival, and an exhibition of Roman artefacts unearthed during construction.
