EC orders CFR Marfa to repay illegal state aid
AN investigation by the European Commission (EC) has found that Romanian state-owned freight operator CFR Marfa received €570m in illegal state aid, comprising a debt write-off and failure to collect debts from the railway undertaking, beginning in 2010. The operator must now pay this amount back to the government, with interest.

Romanian upgrade contract re-awarded after bids re-evaluated
ROMANIAN infrastructure manager CFR has awarded a contract to upgrade the Apata - Cata section of the Brasov - Simeria line, which forms part of the Rhine-Danube Corridor, cancelling an earlier contract with a Turkish consortium.
