POLISH rolling stock supplier Newag has begun production of the first of 12 Impuls regional EMUs for the region of Lesser Poland at its plant in Nowy Sacz.

POLISH long-distance operator PKP Intecity extended the operation of its ED250 Pendolino fleet to two new routes on April 29 with the launch of Warsaw - Jelena Gora and Krakow - Warsaw - Kolobrzeg EIC Premium services.

THE European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €250m loan agreement with Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK to finance the modernisation of the 171km Warsaw - Lublin line, which is part of the TEN-T North Sea – Baltic Corridor, and rehabilitation of the 51km Lukow - Lubartow - Lublin line, which provides an alternative route for freight traffic.
