BULGARIAN State Railways (BDZ) subsidiary BDZ Passenger Transport has invited four rolling stock suppliers to bid for a contract to supply at least 42 EMUs following the approval of the operator’s fleet renewal programme by Bulgaria’s council of ministers on July 20.

GERMAN Rail (DB) presented one of the first Pesa Link DMUs to the public at the DB Regio depot in Dortmund on June 14, two years later than scheduled.

THE Polish government has taken control of financially-troubled train builder Pesa with all of the company’s shares being acquired by the Polish Development Fund (PFR).

SILESIAN Tramways (TS), Poland, has selected Pesa as preferred bidder for a contract to supply up to 40 LRVs.

MPK Krakow has opted to award a contract for up to 50 low-floor LRVs to a consortium of Stadler Poland and Solaris after Pesa, the winning bidder in the tender, failed to a submit financial guarantee for the contract.

POLISH rolling stock manufacturer Pesa has secured a Zlotys 200m ($US 54.7m) loan from a consortium of six financial institutions led by PKO Bank Polski, which will enable the Bydgoszcz-based supplier to complete the restructuring of its business and maintain its liquidity until a strategic investor can be found.
