NEWAG presented its new Dragon 2 locomotive at a ceremony at Poland’s Railway Research Institute Operations Centre in Żmigród on July 12, attended by Poland’s minister of infrastructure Mr Andrzej Adamczyk and deputy minister Mr Andrzej Bittel.

THE first of a fleet of 20 three-car Inspiro trains bound the metro in the Bulgarian capital Sofia left the Newag plant in Nowy Sącz, Poland, on June 25.

POLAND’s national long-distance passenger operator, PKP Intercity, has awarded a Zlotys 367.6m ($US 99.6m) contract to Newag for 20 Griffin 3kV dc locomotives, as part of PKP Intercity’s Zlotys 7bn investment programme which runs until 2023.

POLAND’s largest rail freight operator PKP Cargo signed a Zlotys 388m ($US 113m) contract with Newag on April 4 for the modernisation of 60 Soviet-built SM48 diesel-electric heavy shunting locomotives.

FOLLOWING a competitive tender, Polish long-distance operator PKP Intercity has selected Newag as preferred bidder for a contract to supply and maintain 20 electric locomotives.
