TWO consortia consisting of Indonesian state-owned and Japanese companies are in the running for construction of the underground section of Jakarta's first metro line.

AFTER several false starts and cancellations, construction will finally begin this October on Jakarta's first metro line, according to the city's governor Mr Fauzi Bowo.
