Storm force winds disrupt railways across Europe
RAIL services in Britain and Ireland were disrupted by storm force winds of up to 156km/h on February 9 and 10 as Storm Ciara, the worst in seven years, battered the two countries. The intense low-pressure system crossed the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico and continued past the British Isles to northwestern Europe where German forecasters named it Storm Sabine.

PASSENGERS will not see any changes in the day-to-day operation of Belfast - Dublin ‘Enterprise’ services, even in the event of a no-deal Brexit, Mr Billy Gilpin, director of train operations for Irish Rail (IE) told a meeting of the Seanad committee on Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union in Dublin on September 25.

Irish Rail and Porterbrook order MTU Hybrid PowerPacks
IRISH Rail (IE) and British rolling stock leasing company Porterbrook have signed contracts with Rolls-Royce for the supply of 13 MTU Hybrid PowerPacks, the first firm orders for the hybrid rail drives.
