EGYPT’s National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), a division of the ministry of transport, has selected Hyundai Rotem to supply 256 metro cars for the phase three extension of Cairo metro Line 3, which is currently under construction. The contract is worth Won 433bn ($US 377.5m) which Hyundai Rotem says is its largest ever order in Africa.
A ceremony was held at the Semaf Railway Factory in Helwan, Egypt, on August 1 to mark the completion of the last of 20 nine-car Hyundai Rotem trains for Cairo metro.
