EFACEC, Portugal, has been awarded contract worth more than €25m to supply and install electromechanical systems on Dublin's €368m Cross City Line, which will link the Luas light rail Red and Green lines in Dublin city centre.

IRISH Rail (IE) is launching a scheme designed to reduce fuel and maintenance costs by €3.2m a year. This is on top of €16m annual savings already achieved.

IRELAND's transport minister Mr Leo Varadkar today signed the first construction contracts for the €368m project to connect the Luas light rail Red and Green Lines in Dublin City Centre.

IRELAND's Planning Board has granted a Railway Order authorising the extension of Dublin's Luas light rail network to Broombridge in a €370m project which will connect the two existing lines for the first time.
