Richard Lutz set to be next DB CEO - reports

GERMAN Rail (DB) is expected to appoint current chief financial officer (CFO) Dr Richard Lutz as its next CEO, succeeding Dr Rüdiger Grube who resigned in January. According to German media reports, DB’s supervisory board is expected to confirm the appointment at a meeting next week.

Work begins on Emmerich - Oberhausen upgrade

CONSTRUCTION began on a €1.5bn project to upgrade a key rail freight link between the Netherlands and Germany on January 20, when North Rhine Westphalia state transport minister Mr Michael Goschek, Mr Enak Ferlemann, parliamentary state secretary of the German Ministry of Transport, and German Rail (DB) board member for infrastructure Mr Ronald Pofalla officially launched the expansion and modernisation of the 73km Emmerich - Oberhausen line.

Škoda double-deck train for DB on test at Velim

THE introduction of Škoda trains on DB Regio Oberbayern’s Munich - Nuremberg Express high-speed regional services moved a step closer on January 21, when a class 102 locomotive began testing with a set of double-deck coaches at the VUZ Velim test track in the Czech Republic.
