DB resumes acceptance of ICE 4s following reworking agreement
GERMAN Rail (DB) has resumed accepting new ICE 4 high-speed trains from Siemens and Bombardier, after the acquisition was put on holding following the discovery of quality problems in bodywork welding on some of the vehicles already in service.

FRMCS: next-generation train radio begins to take shape
After one year of work, a UIC team has drawn up a plan to develop the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) as a successor to GSM-R. The objective is to have an FRMCS demonstrator ready in 2023 and to conduct the first national trials by the end of 2024.

DB plans half-hourly Hamburg - Berlin services from 2021
GERMAN Rail CEO Dr Richard Lutz announced on May 7 that half-hourly inter-city services will be launched on the Hamburg - Berlin route in December 2021 with six additional daily services and a 20% increase in seating capacity.
