SWEDEN’s infrastructure manager Trafikverket and the Danish Roads Directorate will launch a two-and-a-half year study on July 1 to assess the viability of constructing a fixed link across the Øresund between Helsingør, Denmark and Helsingborg, Sweden.
ITALIAN construction firm Itinera has announced that it has taken over sole responsibility for the new Storstrøms Bridge on the Copenhagen - Femern railway line, as the two firms it won the contract with are involved in corruption charges in Italy and are in economic difficulty.
RUNNING slightly ahead of Copenhagen with the opening of its 14.4km light rail line planned for the end of 2020, is Odense, which is situated on the island of Funen, and with a population of 200,000, is Denmark’s third largest city.

THE Danish resignalling programme extends to the Copenhagen S-Bane commuter rail network. Siemens is currently engaged in a €252m project to deploy CBTC across the 170km network and its 135 trains under a contract awarded in 2011. However, it has also faced delays and disruption, and the project is now on course for completion in 2021, three years later than originally planned.
COPENHAGEN metro authority Metroselskabet has signed construction contracts for the 4.5km Sydhavn metro extension, allowing work on the project to begin immediately.
